The Races

In 2009, vehicles will be in action in the following races:

PLANAI CLASSIC

The finest classic cars in automotive history as well as the greatest ski champions compete here in the most exciting races in motorsports and skiing. The Alpine Planai-Dachstein Tauern region will host a road race between veritable automobile legends. Participating vehicles will be carefully preselected to maximize the variety of makes and models.

MILLE MIGLIA

The “Thousand Miles” race is unlike any other in the world, with its own distinct traditions and values. The Mille Miglia ranks right behind the Targa Florio as a classic among endurance races. The start and finish are in Brescia, Italy.

SILVRETTA CLASSIC

The Silvretta High Alpine Road connects Partenen in the Montafon with Galtür and Ischgl on the Tirolean side – a most exciting challenge with gradients of up to 13 percent for vintage cars of all model years.

HEIDELBERG HISTORIC

Some segments of this event take the contestants along routes of historical racing and rally events or even to the cradle of the automobile. The route book guides the driver along the former hill-climb route on the Krähberg and to a stopover on the market square in the heart of Old Heidelberg, among other great places.

ENNSTAL CLASSIC

The combination of legendary drivers and crown jewels from the museums of the great automakers endows the Ennstal Classic with a unique atmosphere under the motto, “Tradition is preserving the fire, not the ash.” Here, on the last remaining uncrowded roads of the Alpine region, historical cars are pitted against each other before thousands of spectators.

GOODWOOD

In the past ten years, the Goodwood Revival in Sussex has established itself as the world’s most popular historical race and a unique tribute to motorsports. Here you can see highlights from all eras of motorsport history – from prewar models to Formula One muscle cars. As a special feature, visitors are allowed to enter the competitors' park throughout the entire event, chat with the drivers, and admire the cars.

SACHSEN CLASSIC

Drivers can experience three days and 669 fascinating kilometers through the diverse scenery of Saxony with its many historical and tourist attractions. Following the tracks of Saxony’s motor vehicle pioneers, the route takes you from Zwickau along wonderful byways through the Erzgebirge mountains all the way to Volkswagen’s “Transparent Factory” in Dresden.

CLASSIC ADELAIDE

Since the first event in 1997, the Classic Adelaide has developed into one of the world's biggest road races. It is Australia’s best-known international rally for classic sports cars and guides the contestants through the splendid wine regions of South Australia. Evenings are spent enjoying the finest hospitality and superb dining in Adelaide’s Grand Prix atmosphere.
